Sierra Nevada is both a ski resort and mountain range in the south of Spain. The resort and mountain range in turn form part of the vast and beautiful National Park of Sierra Nevada. The area borders the city of Granada and the closest coastal city is Motril.
With its high snow capped mountains and close proximity to the coast, Sierra Nevada offers a unique setting. Here it’s possible to go skiing in the morning and spend the afternoon swimming in the sea.
Sierra Nevada Skiing, Trekking & Other Activities
The splendid Sierra Nevada Ski Station offers a lot more than just skiing. From cute little amusement rides for the young ones to extreme high altitude trekking, the ski station has it all. Here you can enjoy a full range of exciting guided adventures. these include mountain trekking, white water rafting, canyoning, abseiling, potholing, kayaking and horse riding.
Guided Activities & Natural Park
Further guided activities include sunrise and sunset treks at the rooftop of the peninsula. Visiting the highest astrophysics observatory in Europe is really a sight to behold. You can even be a geologist for the day. Exciting family fun awaits at the Fuente del Mirlo Blanco at the end of the El Rio slope. Here you can enjoy a fun roller coaster, zip-wires, archery, bouncy castles and nippy downhill dirt bikes. There is also an indoor pool, bars and restaurants.
Sierra Nevada Skiing & Slopes
At the Sierra Nevada Ski Station there are three ski lifts to the summit of three different slopes. These can be used for skiing, hiking and mountain bikes. The area also boasts its own bike park. Here mountain bikers can enjoy six challenging downhill circuits, a mini park and two cross-country circuits. Specially designed descent bikes, rally bikes and mountain skate bikes are available to hire. Novices wishing to give it a go can purchase a learning pack.
